Commitment: 8 hours/week

Jeem e.V. is a feminist media organization that works on gender, sex, the body, and sexuality. 

Jeem e.V. produces and publishes critical multimedia knowledge in Arabic that critiques and challenges prevailing stereotypes, dominant narratives  and systems of oppression in all their intersections. It provides a safe space for those interested in challenging patriarchal discourses to share their experiences. It creates opportunities for networking and collaboration between institutions, initiatives, and individuals working in the field of gender and sexuality at the local, regional and global levels. It primarily targets Arabic-speaking youth (aged 18-35) in the Arabic-speaking region and the diaspora. 

Launched in Summer 2018 as a project of the Goethe-Institut, Jeem e.V. was registered in Germany in 2022 as an independent, non-profit organization.

Jeem e.V. receives public and private funding from diverse organizations. 

Jeem e.V. is looking for a Finance and Administration Manager who will be responsible for maintaining its administrative and financial system and processes. The Finance and Administration Manager will report directly to the Managing Director. 

1. Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the bookkeeping and accounting services, along with the financial flow of the organization;
  • Making payment lists, processing invoices, and ordering proof of expenses (Zahlungsbelege);
  • Managing bank transfers, payment of invoices, and payroll;
  • Documenting the procedures in accordance with the German public procurement law and funders’ regulations;
  • Feeding the accountancy software and allocating all expenses and income according to the respective account numbers;
  • Supporting the management in preparing the annual budget; 
  • Preparing the annual tax declaration with the tax advisor;
  • Submitting financial reports and fund clearance requests to funding organizations (Zahlenmäßiger Nachweis) in a timely manner;
  • Preparing and submitting quarterly reports to the management about the financial and administrative affairs and status of the organization;
  • Preparing documents for audits and liaising with auditors;
  • Supporting management with fundraising, and drafting proposals and budgets; 
  • Processing travel bookings and reimbursement to travelers.

 

2. Eligibility Criteria

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • Strong command of the German language (C1 level)
  • Strong command of the English language
  • Previous experience (at least 2 years) in working in an administrative and/or finance position within a German entity, preferably a non-profit organization
  • Proficiency with digitized systems and computerized financial systems, such as accounting programs, databases, payment processing, excel spreadsheets, payroll services
  • Previous experience in working administratively on publicly funded projects 
  • Knowledge of the public procurement law in Germany

Complementary Requirements:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Respect of queer, feminist, and anti-racist values
  • Bachelor degree in business administration or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Experience with fundraising is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Arabic is a plus

 

3. Location and Working Conditions

  • The contractor should be located in Germany.
  • The Finance and Admin Manager works remotely from home. 

 

4. Salary

The Finance and Administration Manager can be employed as a freelancer, filing invoices on a monthly basis (in this case, please indicate your daily rate in the application).
